Cellular and Protein Engineering

The use of cellular engineering for the development of 3D cultures that mimic the physiology and organization of a tissue is a key tool for answering basic and applied research questions in the areas of drug discovery and tissue engineering. This model represents more accurately the actual microenvironment where cells reside in tissues, as well as the cell behavior more reflective of in vivo celular responses. This line of research aims to establish a human skin culture model to address issues like wound healing, skin diseases, infections and drug screening.
